Green
Pools are No Fun!
This heat has been great for swimming. But it is also the perfect conditions for algae to break out. In fact, it might seem that an algae bloom happens almost over night. Algae reproduces at a much faster rate in warm water. If we don't increase the amount of chlorine in our swimming pool to compensate for extra bathers, longer usage and the faster rate of algae growth, we can easily end up with a green pool almost over night. Keep algae away with 3 simple steps each week. Sanitize with pucks, shock weekly, and add a maintenance dose of algaecide to prevent a swimming pool nightmare. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Ask us about Aquabrite tabs to help keep your water clean, clear and safe.

Pool Renovations
Now is
the time to schedule your pool renovations.
1. Enhance Your Surroundings Consider a new or updated pool deck. You can extend the look of interior flooring to experience an outdoor family room with man-made or natural materials. Stain existing concrete. Or brush up dated, cracked or stressed concrete patios with a thick overlay and new finish. Add a sound or media system, or even an outdoor kitchen or fireplace for greater enjoyment.
2. Add a Hot Tub
Experience the relaxation of a soothing soak or the health benefits from warm water therapy. There’s a hot tub for every need, every setting, and every budget.
3. Replace Your Liner
Change out your old,
faded, hanging liner now. Choose an updated new pattern, color, and design.
4. Add a Water Feature
Waterfalls come in all
shapes and sizes from rock features to planters with sheer descents. Come and
see us for some options.
5. Think technology
New automatic cleaners have units that “walk” along your pool floor. These newer systems require practically no supervision. And you can still swim while the system cleans your pool. Digital controls make operating pool equipment easier than ever, letting you control lighting, heating, and cleaning with the touch of the button or with your tablet or smartphone.Upgrades like a salt chlorinator system or a solar cover and heater can improve both functionality and efficiency.
Keep in mind, you don’t
have to do everything at once. Pool renovations can be done over several
seasons, allowing you to make the improvements and fund your investment at a
pace that works for you.

Loves Our New Hot Tubs and You Will Too
We have several new hot tub models in the store with more on
the way! All of our hot tubs come with a free cover and steps! Come on in and
and look around. Here are the top 5 reasons to buy a hot tub according to the
APSP.
1. Hot tubs are affordable.
Portable hot tubs are more affordable than ever before, due to efficient manufacturing practices and competing brands. "We've managed to merge higher-end features into our hot tubs while lowering the price points, because that's what customers are demanding". 2. Hot tubs fit anywhere. The portable hot tub industry has adapted to consumers lifestyles. Hot tubs come in all different shapes and sizes, from two-person hot tubs to 10-person models. Hot tubs can be installed indoors or outdoors, in as little area as 64 square feet or less. Another emerging trend in hot tubs is swim spas, designed for those wanting the convenience of swimming, training or just relaxing. 3. You can use a hot tub year round no matter where you live. Hot tubs can be used year-round in any climate. Many owners use their hot tubs more in the winter, when bubbly heat remarkably offsets falling snow. 4. Hot tubs are easy to maintain and are energy efficient. Newer technology has allowed the hot tub owner to keep water clean and clear with a couple of minutes of weekly maintenance. New models are being produced that will meet new APSP energy efficiency standards and to meet consumers' demands for greener products. 5. Hot tubs provide "vacations/therapy" 365 days of the year. Hot tubs provide the ideal venue to connect with family and friends. They provide a multitude of health benefits ranging from stress reduction to muscle recovery. "We've really seen a push toward hot water therapy. Having a place to relax, connect and heal after a long day can really be the ultimate gift that keeps on giving."

When Do I Start My Inground Pool?
Running through the backyard sprinkler may have worked when you were a kid, but now that you’ve got your own house there are considerably more luxurious ways to beat the heat.
Planning and building a swimming pool isn’t something you should do on a whim. It’s a big-time investment that can both dramatically alter your landscape and lifestyle.
Every year we have people who call us in April, and they want pools built so they can be swimming in them by Memorial Day. Pool building is really more complicated than that. If someone wants a pool by Memorial Day, they’d be smart to start the process now.
Getting Started
That process must start with prioritizing your needs and wants, starting with these questions:- Is my yard suited to a pool?
- What zoning restrictions do I face?
- What’s my pool budget?
- Am I prepared to care for a pool, or am I in the position to hire help?
- Will this pool be used primarily for exercise, entertaining, kid play or lounging?
- What should I know about safety and insurance?

How to Clean and Purge Your Spa
Before draining your spa you must take proper procedure for
a clean and proper maintenance of your water and spa condition. Using spa purge
before draining your spa restores the plumbing to original condition and takes
out all organic waste such as oils, lotions, cosmetics, hair products, sweat
build up, etc., that your body tends to
leave in the water.
2. With Spa water temperature at 95 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, add entire contents of 1liter SPA Purge bottle to spa water
3. Run jets a minimum of 5 min.( if excessive foaming occurs turn jets off)
4. Maintain water temperature and allow spa to circulate overnight with jets off.
5. Drain, rinse and then refill spa and reinstall filter elements. Proceed with normal spa maintenance.
Before refilling the spa clean the hot tub with Clean and Perfect which cleans away excess grease and dirt left in the spa. Just spray and wipe for cleaning use.

Can a Hot Tub Relieve Stress?
Yes, a hot tub can relieve the stress you face on a day to
day basis. Hot tubs and spas can help relieve stress that creates muscle
tension and restricts blood flow. Stress can cause headaches, sleeplessness,
fatigue, and soreness. How we feel physically can affect our thoughts,
our moods, and our ability to enjoy life to the fullest.
Regular use of a hot tub allows you to relax and relieve the tension. The key to relaxation in a hot tub is finding
your perfect fit. To achieve the perfect
fit you will need to make sure the seats aren’t too big or too small. Having
the jets in the right location and in numerous locations give you a massage all
over to help relive tension. Having adjustable jets is another way to customize
your seat so you can have the best experience possible while in your hot tub.
By adding in aromatherapy using either a liquid or crystal version, such as
Spazazz, you can increase your relaxation and decrease your stress. With the
stress melting away you will be able to enjoy life more fully.
If you need help finding the perfect fitting hot tub, call Parrot Bay Pools & Spas.
